Anyone ever have a school of Tiger Barbs in the tank with Cichla? Before i get slammed about the Cichla eating them, I am referring to keeping both together in a grow out tank.

I'm asking because bought two Monos and have them in my 75 gallon tank. One is about 3 inches and the other about 2. The 3 inch guy is a lot "thicker" though.

Anyway I got 8 little Tiger Barbs to put in the tank with them, and ever since the little Mono hasn't been eating like he used to and has gotten more shy. The bigger Mono is still acting the way he always did and devouring his food.

Any thoughts???

They worked well for me as dithers w/ my indo dats...should be fine w/ cichla till the cichla get too big. Im guessing the smaller bass is getting bullied by the larger one. Id suggest getting one or two more bass to spread the aggression.

:iagree: watch the tank for a while and see if your little one is getting picked on by the bigger one or if the barbs are giving it a tough time. I've seen some feisty tiger barbs in my day

tiger barbs are known as tank wolves for a reason they can be pretty cool when they are in a school and not bother the other fish i would definitely agree with the gentlemen above the larger bass is bullying the smaller one more then likely more bass in varying sizes will curb the aggresion as stated above

Yeah I have seen the school of Barbs "chasing" around the little Mono and even the bigger one sometimes.
