I looking for a schooling fish most likey a barb that gets to a good size , not tinfoil barbs or nothing that big , something about the 5 or 6 inch range

Arulius barbs (Puntius arulius)
Filament barbs (Puntius filamentosus)
Torpedo barbs (Puntius denisonii)

What is the temperature of your tank? Size of tank and tankmates?

temp of tanks anywhere from high 70 to mid 80s , size of tank , a 15 gal ,a 30, gal, 2 40 breeders , and a 55 gal, tankmates anywhere from a jack, green terror, red terror, convict, mosiac gar, mextico blues, to tilipia zillii, tilipia syndare and five star jewels

Torpedo barbs are out of the question with your temperature range. A small group of full-grown filament barbs may be able to avoid the convicts and Jack Dempsey but keep the group in a 55g minimum.

Lupin what are the requirements for the torpedo barbs? temp wise ?

i read that they like cool water like in the mid or low 70s robb but can be keep at various temps but thrieve in the lower ones

hmm maybe thats why they never do well in upper 70 water temps at the shop

Torpedos do indeed like cooler temperature. You could try a panchax for a 30g as these are 4 inches. The only trouble is these are excellent jumpers. As for the 15g, I don't think any dithers will survive even if you try the convicts in there.

Tiger barbs get pretty big, about 3 inches or so. They would be pretty good for the smaller tanks. Giant danios are generally a fish that is recommended to be kept with mid sized cichlids. They get about 4 inches long, and they are really active, so I wouldn't put them in anything smaller than the 55. I've got 5 in my 75, and they use the whole tank. They stay in the upper levels of the tank almost exclusively, which I think helps them avoid aggression from cichlids that lurk around lower to the bottom.

it would help to know what is in each tank already.
