hey guys,my tank has a bare bottom and iw as wondering if it was bad for my dovii to see his own reflection at the bottom.i heard that it may spook them and maybe cause stress?what are your guys opinions?

i've heard this before. maybe you can place a bit of sand on the bottom? a really light layer?

You can always paint the bottom (outside or inside, up to you) . I have seen slate pieces cut to fit..still easy to maintain if you don't have any gaps. If your fish is getting spooked by his own reflection then I would do something to prevent it...every fish is different, not just by species type.

if you paint the outside under...its still gonna have some reflection... if you paint the inside with an epoxy would be ok but it would be way easier just to add some sand ....cheap ...cheerful..looks good and you just need to wash it and add it.

if you paint the outside glass, theres no reflection at all. i did this on my 100g and it was just a nice solid black. similar to the background. paint it black from the outside and you dont see your reflection when you look at the tank

I don't know about paint on the bottom, but if you tape black construction paper there will still be a reflection.

Whats should be done for a Q tank? Most people recommend a bare bottom, but that has the problem of reflection

yeah you wont see a reflection when its painted. i prefer bare bottom for water quality reasons. and i like it better too

mine was glass. P are you sure its a reflection??
