fish can't see their reflection in the bottom glass.. try looking down from above your tank and there is no reflection

this is true. my friends 135g is bare bottom (not painted). you can see a reflection when we look at the tank, but if I look directly down from the top, all you see if the wood cabinet, not a reflection. its not a mirror, its just clear glass

Good post. Also, I don't think this is a huge deal. So what if the fish sees its reflection? It will be fine....

thats the point though, the fish can't see its reflection in the bottom glass from inside the tank:nilly::naughty:

So if fish can't see a reflection my puffer puffs up because the clear bottom scares him? It scares him so much it split it's lip trying to attack the bare bottom.

HHHMMMM............ Maybe I should just youthanise that crazy bastid right now?

Every fish I have ever kept, has hated bare bottom tanks. They never seem to do near as well as they would if they were in a tank with substrate to cover the glass. They always hide or are very spookish in a bare bottom tank. They also don't look near as healthy as they would in a tank with substrate. That's just from my experience. Plus bare bottom tanks are ugly.
