I prefer the look of simple/natural decor and it gives the fish a sense of security when they have some floating plants/pot/driftwood/rock to retreat to. However you are pretty lightly stocked for your 180 so If you prefer the look of a bare bottom tank you just might get away with it if your RD is chill enough to allow it. However RD's are way out of an Oscars agression league so unless you give your RD a territory to claim by useing decor to break line of sight there is a pretty good chance he will try and claim the whole tank and kill your Oscar.
