you need a lot more than 1000 gallons to house an adult. they are open water predatory fish. i have worked in quite a few LFS and they never seem to do to good unless kept in a circle tank where they acnt go ramming into the sides. most i have seen kept didnt last too long because people kept them in way too small of a tank. most have had sores on their noses from running into the glass head on. in my opinion they are one of the fish best left in the ocean, but if you must try, get a tank with round edges and make sure it is BIG. they are awesome looking fish that are definitely monster, but as far as o know they arent good aquarium subjects....at least not home aquarium. so if you have a public sized aquarium then go for it. keep us all posted on your results and get some pics.
