Barred Midas keep or sell

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks just like the citrinellus i brought back from lake nicaragua last year, barred citrinellus aren't always strongly barred.....

yeah it was sold to me as A. citrennilum "barred", so is that technically a barred midas

Im not familiar with the dif. Midas', is a "Red Isletas" the same as a barred Midas?
Its another Amphilophus variant. Slightly different facial structure and the face/belly tend to be red. I have several videos on my FB page in my signature to refer to.

you should keep the male and sell the female. they dont really look like barrel midas anyway

k then what does my barred midas look like, also i been sold 1 of them in may , somebody just revived this thread

I honestly don't know why some are saying they look like Flowerhorn fry. Flowerhorn fry look more Trimac fry when juvies. These look just like Midas fry, but unless your sure of the source they should be considered hybrids. The problem we have today is because to many dealers/breeders just grouped all Amphilophus as Red Devils. You will still see sites refering to Citrinellum as Red Devils.

Thats one of the reasons I stay away from the Amphilophus genus...I do however, like the Trimac. And the recently added Festae but that doesnt count. Because frankly no one knows.

IME the difference between a red isletas and a barred midas is the red face on the isletas. when i first got mine it was totally grey and black and as it grew and adjusted to the tank its face got really red, ill show some pics
