I have a Pink/red Tail Chalceus he is aobut 4 inches and i am thinking about getting two red tail Barricudas.... Will they do ok together? And is two a good number to get of the barrricudas? ( i have a 90gal tank)

I had two pink-tailed chalceus, and they should be fine with the barracudas. They are very fast and skittish fish.

I wouldn't get them (at least not in the same tank) though because then you'll have three fish that all could get a foot long in a 90 gallon tank. These fish are very fast (as you know) and prefer to dart around, which they won't be able to do in a 90 gallon tank. Just my thoughts.

I actually had a school of about 20 large tiger barbs in with my two pink-tails, and the chalceus liked to ram headlong into the school and make the little barbs disperse. It was very funny to watch.

I have the same set up, no problems. They seem to be slow growers to you'll have time to upgrade.

you said you had a pink tail? did it take him awhile to eat i got him 2 days ago and i put some small feeder fish in and he hasnt touched them? What else should i try and feed him?

I fed mine Hikari Bio Gold+ cichlid mini-sized pellets. They attacked them as soon as they hit the water. The pellets float, so its easy to scoop them out. These also made their tails a deep shade of pink, almost a red.

Very cool to watch them eat the pellets. They couldn't seemingly get them down in one bite, so they gnawed at them for a while.

I remember seeing someone on hear say that Barracudas live in packs in the wild,Idont know if this is true but Ido have a Redtail and a yellow tail that has a longer more slender body and they do well together.

I worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago and Barracuda would hang out under the platforms. They were by themselves usually. With quite a bit of distance between them.

We are not talking about real ocean Barracuda but the South American freshwaterfish that are commonly called Redtail Barracuda.
