  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good thread, saved as a favorite, hopefully i dont need it.....iam getting 3.5" breeding pair proberly within a week:)
good luck with the bartoni and sajica

Thanks David.
I think slightly larger ones aren't as sensitive. If this one survives I'll be happy. I'll be heading to work soon... Hopefully it's taken a turn for the better.

from what I understand the bloat issue is usually only with juveniles and once they reach 3-4" then they aren't nearly as susceptible to it. however I'd still maintain the clean, oxygen rich water for them even as they grow larger. :)

Too much protein may be part of it, but I'd do try turning up the tank temp to the mid 80's or so. Seems to help with haitiensis. Too much food seemed to be bad for my first batch of haitiensis

I hope they are, i did have 5 fry before about 1", had them and they died within 24hours,i was gutted but i didnt do anything wrong so i found out the bloke to sold them also had that problem and lost 55 fish but at the same day of loosing them, his larger 7 formed 3 pairs and all bred:)iam getting one of those pairs.

sinking foods supposed to be better for bloat prone fish, insted of floating?

updates on the little guy.....

He's still a bit bloated. Huffing has slowed down. I introduced a powerhead with rotating spout and venturi on.

All sajica's recovered though. I put in a 200 watt heater to replace my broken 150w.

Good to hear, love sajicas, i have both types:headbang2

The last one did not make it. he had food once in the last week. I had raised the temp and added the powerhead, but it was too late. It semed very skinny aside from the huge belly. I'm disappointed but I will look at this as a learning experience.
