Basement organization, help I messed up!

How is the hvac down there. I have found the most expensive part of the hobby is heating tanks during the winter in a poorly heated space.

Honestly I would like an 8 foot tank, like a 300 gallon but getting it downstairs would be almost impossible. I probably could a 7ft length.
Remember that if you ever move you'll also need to be able to get it back up the stairs :P

But I agree, there's too much space in that room, it almost looks empty... But another tank could definitely change that.. ;)

The basement stays cool, probably upper 50s in winter. That 1000w heater keeps the tank at 78. The electric bill is about the same in winter as it is in summer with the air conditioning running. The hvac is all new Lennox equipment. 2 years old.

With all the space in that room, maybe you could build a Joey style 540 gallon tank and have it just sit out in the middle. You would just need two 6' tanks to take apart and then use the four 6' pieces to attach to a plywood base. If you want to try something like that, there is a video series where joey02 joey02 shows the steps on how build the tank. I really hope to be able to do this someday.
