bass questions

Nicka you are talking about largemouth bass right? As far as keeping LM bass with cichlids yes it can be done. You just have to consider where you are getting the bass from. This time of year I wouldn't recommend taking a bass out of cooler water and expect them to be happy in a semitropical tank. When I took mine it was in the middle of the summer in a medium sized pond only 3-4 feet deep. The bass had been there for quite a while and where already adapted to warmer water. Not all fish of the same species are created equal though. Just because two fish are of the same species it doesn't mean they can live in the same environment. Fish of different gene pools have different inherited traits that help them survive in there environment. This is why you have some fish of the same species with different color traits depending on where they come from. It all has to do with adaptation/evolution. Sorry for such a long post but I felt this needed to be explained.

No I was I not planing to put any chiclids there I am in Delaware so I want a native and it turns out my family are getting a pond in the backyard so I want to put some sunfish and bass in the tank(large mouth) and when they get to big I can put them in the pond . Thank you for your long post I like reading them so any suggestions for care of large mouths

If you plan on putting them back in the pond when they get bigger I wouldn't try to get them to feed on pellets. I would just keep a bunch of mosquito fish with them. No need for a heater. Heavy filtration. High oxygen. They are really an easy fish to take care of.
