in NY waiting to get cancer
my silver arowana used to be afraid of my hand. now it attacks my hand every chance it gets. it has a large swimming area, i keep it well fed, and i provide decorations and plants to keep it happy. starting yesterday it bit my hand every time i put it into the water. i didnt think it was a problem but now everytime i enter the room, it starts swimming very actively and tries to swim through the glass to get at me. after feeding time, i reached over to close the tank lid and it jumped out of the water and chomped on my finger. it hung there for a few seconds and dropped back into the water. i was too stunned to move. why is it suddenly so agressive?

It's possessed, i suggest you get an exersist or witch doctor or anything of the such.

No but really, i have no idea, sound scary :(

Becuase your aro got used to you. Mine arent that agressive but whenever i stick my hand in there to clean out the bottom, i always get nipped here and there.

The devil's magic is at hand we must call the holy one to conquer the demon with in your arowana! Ever think about pouring holy water inside your tank? LOL

get him a woman that should solve all your problems :)

Well, at least no one can complain to you about how skittish silver arowanas are... Try throwing some dithers in there!!!hahaha

Wow. That's a tough one. Did you ever hand feed it? It's possible that if you hand fed it with the intention of it getting used to you, what actually happened is it learned that your presence means food, and food comes from your hands.

That's all that I can think of.

I take care of a male motoro ray at work (until he gets sold... =( ) and I trained him to not be afraid of my hand so I could maintain his tank... but now when I am in there he comes up and fans me with his disc and looks for food on my fingers. Glad he hasn't chomped down like your aro has!!

Good luck, dude =) / =(

Hi,maybe its a question of time,it gets use to its new tank and owner. My snakeheads never attack or attacked me.
