bastard arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha.. that is if anything a good sign.. very vital aro that is completely accustomed to you.. :) how big is he/she? maybe its a teenage thing, hormones and stuff ^^

these are only signs of your aro enjoying his habitat you provide, and being very used to you. he'll get bigger, and you'll get more scared. learn how to deal with it. when he swims towards you swing your arm at it. i usually have a friend with me when im working on my tank, 3 aros at 28" that are willing to attack every time gets tiring/annoying. so i have a friend fight them off while i clean lol. team work

Lets put it this way. If my aro were a bird, I'd have to walk arround the house with a shotgun. Did he make you bleed?

do some holy water water changes quick

just try hand feeding. him and if that makes it worse....i would say stop hand feeding because he could think your hand always has food

go after him with your hand. show him whose boss... seriously though it's just that he don't see you as a predator anymore he see's you as weak.

I don't approve of him going after the aro with his hand, because if he does that then most likely the aro won't trust him anymore. It can be easy sometimes to make friends with your fish but if you mess up even sometimes just once then you might mess up your relationship with your fish for the rest of it's life. Like it may still come to eat but it won't let you pet it, eat from your hand or possibly if its real scared not come near till you walk away. Sure you could try regainging it's trust again (sometimes) by feeding it, and not going at it, but its twice as hard to become frendly with your fish a second time after you already scared it.

Every fish I get I try to make a close relationship between me and the fish, it just makes the hobby much more fun. ;)

Not a very good idea. If you scare it and it rams into the glass, possible barbell loss, possible DE (maybe cause even more severe DE), and unneeded stress.
