Battery operated vacuum.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also IME it will work on sand for quick surface cleaning of solid waste.

I had one years ago, and I agree with Barrett. DO NOT use if you have deep sand or gravel bottom tanks, agreed, they will not suck deep substrate well, but .............. for a bare bottom tank very easy peasy, and has enough juice to get the job done nicely. By the time Diok's has his hose hooked up to the sink, a bare bottomed tank is already clean.

And I agree, FH turds are a joke compared to a rays. lol
Hmm I’m not sure I chuck my hose right out of my window which is 2 inches away into my garden. I have a even larger diameter vinyl tube I use for water changes and that thing can drain 150g in a couple of mins. Faster than you taking your walker and grabbing that vacuum sucker out of your closet.

I have the YADICO electric vaccum sticks. They're for up to 28 inch depth but you can squeeze it to 30. At first they siphoned really well but because the water drains from the screen you have to hold it over the tank or spill water on the floor. The crud collects in the cup. You slide it out and rinse. There's a button at the top to turn the motor off. BUT at full depth the vaccum gets weaker at times. My Oscar's finger sized turds would just break up into a mess so I would use a extended handle net for those. Keeping the screen section clean keeps maximum suction up. You also need a minimum depth ~"15" for the tall siphon to be effective. I haven't used mine in awhile since the synos gulp extra food at the bottom and the power heads sweep the poop to the filters now.

I haven't had much luck with tall siphon tubes either, the drain is too weak over 14" water depth. What bugs me is that the hoses on them are too short for a really good siphon. A 24," 30"or 36" tube with a 6ft hose to siphon? Good luck with that. By the time you bend those long ass tubes in the water the siphon weakens or stops.
