That's a dead skate, not a ray. The dead "carp" that you saw were probably bunker (aka menhaden). Nice clean filet job on the blue though.
That sea Robbin is neat looking . I used to go for Blue fish in those party boats off Freeport never saw a Robbin.

Sea robins are scavengers. There seems to be a run of them now in the lower new york bay. They're taking spearing and bunker chunks. I landed about half a dozen on pieces of cooked shrimp cocktail.
