Be careful raw shrimp

I think you keep the shrimp in the fridge too long is the cause?? One week is max for shrimp that I feed to my flowerhorn and blood parrots. I deshell the shrimp and cut into small pieces.

You should be freezing the shrimp an thawing under hot water when ready to feed. Freezer preserves it and hot water kills bacteria.

Ive always heard to use cold water and I've always done cold without any problems

Cold works fine as well. The freezing of the shrimp kills most if not all of the bacteria anyway.

I thaw my market shrimp in cold water with KENT vitamin additive liquid. The shrimp absorbs the extra nutrients and goes directly into the tank. I dont even cut them up even though some say it is better to cut into pieces to reduce accidental bites on each other. Although my shoal goes crazy wild, they never have any cuts on their mouths.

I always fed my Lents and lion fish fresh whole shrimp with shell on. They get calcium from the shell. Odds are you overfed. Large predatory fish do not need fed all the time. I got remarkable growth feeding every 3rd day. Just remember to stuff the shrimp or soak it in vitamins.
