Be on Tanked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
FYI, the associate producer actually emailed me back to get an idea on what I wanted to do. Not sure if I even want to do it, but it can't hurt. I figure if I make these guys do it, I am going to aim for an amazonian paludarium focusing mostly on the water side but trying to get a land area in there as well.

I would love to do something like this...don't have that kind of money though!

The show doesn't seem to do normal tanks. You're going to need a novel twist to it like making it shaped like a giant fish bowl. Don't forget they put fake coral in everything, even with African cichlids. Lol

Yeah, I already told them I don't want any of that novelty crap in there, so we'll see. They did a pretty natural tank with the "Fung Shui" build. I don't think I will get picked, and if they come back with an absurd price I am telling them to take a hike, but I figured it could be fun to see what happens.

I watched the show a couple of times but I wasn't into it. I'm never going to own a 57 chevy or Phone booth fish tank not my taste. If thay did really cool traditional tanks I'd be a lot more interested.

This is the message I actually sent as my description to the producer, and they did respond to it:

Well, I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I am planning on redoing my basement, and building it around an inwall tank. My dream tank is 10x4x3 reproduction of a flooded Amazonian forest. It would have artificial tree roots springing up through the tank, be heavily planted and be filled with Peacock Bass and possibly freshwater rays, though stocking is flexible. I wouldn't even mind having building a decent size land area above the water level to further elaborate on the forest theme.

I know you usually focus on salt, but I have seen you do some freshwater tanks, and there is a whole community at monsterfishkeepers.com that would love to see you tackle some fresh water tanks.

See this page for some inspiration of what I want:

In further correspondence, I have made it clear I have no intentions of building it around an old car, a phone booth, or gutted piano and they keep replying back, so maybe they have gotten feedback people want something more realistic
