I am planning to get some beach sand to put in my tank. If I rinse the sand through water to try and get rid of the salt, can I then add the sand? Is there any harm in doing this or is there a correct method? Thanks.

would be much safer to just go get pool filter sand

yea sand from beach is too salty xD

Best way is to boil it in water to rid of contaminants, THEN rinse. Make sure you rinse VERY thoroughly and be generous with the time you take to boil it.

how much would i have to rinse it? The reason why I want to get beach sand is because this beach that I am planning to get claims to "have the whiteish beach sand in the world". I saw it before, it is very white.

Well I plan to get it tommorrow. 3 hour drive just for beach sand, it would be cheaper and easier to buy the sand from the store but I thought I'll have a day trip since its a public holiday tmr.

How many times should I be rinising the sand? We looking at 3-4 times?
