Well a little good news and lots of bad news. I found them, and caught 4 big ones, beautiful colors, 2 male and 2 female. We drove down river a bit more and hit a gold mine, were every cast turned up at least 10 juvs. at about 2.5" Caught like 87 pcs in 30 minutes!!! Anyway even though I had all my permitts and papers, the Alaska Air people in Mexico did NOT let me check the fish in, even though I offered money. I am sad to say that I had to leave all the fish behind with not knowledge of what the airline people would do with them? Most likely they all died. Anyway, I am sorry to all who were looking forward to this fish as much as I was. I will be posting in the Market place my Baluarte F0 Beani breeding pair, my breeding F0 Red istlanum pair and 2 female F0 backups, my breeding grammodes F1 pair and F0 Wild Ecuador male and female, if anyone is inetersted?? I am getting out of the hobby, with this big dissapointment that the dumb airline people caused. I have done this many times before, I explained, but the person in charge was not a nice person.

man that totally sucks, sorry to hear. i was looking forward to what you could bring back. but dont get out of the hobby bro!

Yes it does suck. I will only be out for a couple of years. We are expecting our 3rd child, and as it is I have so little time for myself and my fish. Can't imagine with a 3rd baby. Once the kids are in all in school I will be back and collect again..maybe. We will see. Thanks.

yeah i here ya. well good to know youre not out for good! rob and i were just talking about this yesterday; wondering what you were gonna bring back :(

joe - you deserve some serious accolades for what you have done for this hobby. none of us would have beani or istlanum if it weren't for you.
i'm gonna be bold and say that none of the big vendors who are selling beani or istlanum would be even carrying these two species if you hadn't revitalized interest in this fish in the last year or so.
so thank you for everything that you have done - your legacy will stick with this hobby and we are the ones who should feel sorry that you will be out for a while. hopefully we can enjoy your guidance and stories in due course once you have things sorted out. i for one know that despite all the ups and downs i have in life, and despite all the times i've left the hobby - this is what we do. this is what we enjoy. we'll always come back :)
all the best, sir.

Thanks for trying to bring them back Joe. You have brought us many beautiful fish from your collecting trips that we would have no chance of keeping otherwise. Your efforts are much appreciated! Like my son says "JoeFatFish is da man"!

Damn that sucks joe , usually they do take bribes but that sucks man, i will try and get your wild grammodes if there available, still
