Eggs are a bit hard to see, very camouflaged, and I didn't want to mess with the algae on the glass near the spawn.

Male is @ 4", female an inch smaller. Been feeding HBH soft spirulina pellets, and just started adult brine shrimp about a week ago, hatching the artemia in an out door tub with water change water from tanks and left over rock salt unused from mild winter lack of snow and ice.

The temp was high 60s to low 70s from Feb until the heatwave hit last week when the water temp jumped into the mid 70s.
Been doing daily 30% water changes.

Congrats on the spawn you do not see too many of these guys spawning. Interesting how you kept the temperature so low. It seems most nandopsis tend to prefer higher temps.

Cubans, haitiensus seem to prefer/need the heat,

but I believe being the northern most Mexican cichlid on the Pacific slope, might make beani subjected to some temp extremes, so some seasonal fluctuation in the tank, might be a good thing. And after an adult pair died of (what I think was heat induced)columnaris during last summers heat wave, I re-evaluated that Nandopsis norm practice for beani (probably really genus Herichthys).

Been keeping some carpintus outside in the yard for a couple weeks, night water temps low 60s, day 70s, and they seem no worse for it.
