Nope just big fat gills... The plates are a lil shorter than usual but look healthy! Not to be gross but the bottom of his gills kinda hang like a pornstars u know what... lol. It doesn't bother me though...

Well I am HAPPY to admit I may have been wrong about these fish not getting along! The Cuban is swelling and her tube dropped about 1/16". I am gonna do a few colder water changes this week and hope for kids... The JK actually lets her eat on his side now but still soon after he chases her away...

LOL, well it is a possibility he may not be fertile due to the parrot blood in him or he may have a low sperm count. So if you get any fertile eggs I would hatch them artificially so there isn't a chance of them being eaten.

If you want a cheap fix for a background, go to walmart. That's where I get mine. I buy yards and yards of deep black fabric for 2 bucks a yard. Then I tack them to my wall behind my tanks.
If you get the right fabric, it makes for a very rich black that makes the fish really pop.
