Bear hunters want longer chase season in va

The biggest pest I see around is humans and the animals they take with them (dogs, rats, pigs, cats, etc.)
 
well it seems that you must be a pest yourself if you truly enjoy this site. keeping fish is no different than keeping a dog
 
Am I not human? No...I am human and humans are pests, so I am a pest. Its in my nature and that of humans to be pests...or weeds, whatever you prefer. There are other pests and weed out there as well, normally all are successful species. Keeping fish in no different then keeping a dog in that you are keeping an animal but fish in a tank cannot go outside and kill native species...unless you put them there. Dogs and other animals we keep cause huge problems on the natural environment.
 
Well, the whole thing about this thread is that let the guys go huntin' for the bears. There are plenty of them. It is good to go hunting for sport, as long as it is done in the parameters of the legal boundary.
What is so bad about having a dog as well?
 
what they do is they use the dogs to chase the bear the bear climbs a tree out of instinct. then the hunters finaly catch up to the dogs barking and harness them. Now is season is open for hunting they shoot the bear in the tree it falls they gut skin field dress it what ever hunt over.fun times me loves it
 
Well like I said, I don't have a problem with regulated hunting of anything, it was just that one post that bothered me. I don't hunt myself but I know and respect a lot of hunters.

I did not mean to upset anyone or offend them. I see bear almost on a daily basis, they are beautiful animals. The point i was trying to make was population control.
 
I have been lucky enough to draw bear tags three times and twice get black bears, I don't use dogs and baiting is illegal i Washington state where I hunted. I made clean shots at less than 40 yards both times using a .375 H+H which dropped the bears within a couple steps. On the olympic penninsula most hunting is done at very short range because the brush is quite dense and more than 50 yards from even a large animal it is hard to get a clear shot at any farther. I sold the paws and gall bladder and filled out the proper transfer forms, I gave the hide to a friend who made a robe from it and wears it to potlatches, The skull went to a highschool science teacher, the bones went through a chipper and into the garden, the offal was used as crab bait, the meat was eaten, and the blood was used for black pudding.

nice piece. i got a .375 H+H too, But my Wesley Richards 450 nitro express is very effective also.
