So I bought a Sunfire Bearded Dragon this week and I am wondering if two things I have noticed are normal. First off he really doesn't eat much, in the morning I put some fresh greens on his plate and spray them with water and he runs over too them, eats a few pieces and that is it. He does enjoy Crickets and ate about 10 yesterday, but his veggies not so much. Also it just sits underneath his UVB light most of the day, is that normal. He is inquisitive because he keeps shifting to watch me, but he never leaves his perch that much.

That's actually very normal and im surprised that its actually even eating right now. When i got my leopard geckos, breaded dragons, and my columbian tegu they all just sat in a particular spot and only my tegu sat underneath the UVB light. At first my leopard geckos and bearded dragons wouldn't eat for 3-6 days. My tegu ate right away without any hesitation. Keep in mind that they really dont eat that much to begin with. Basically they are just getting used to there surroundings and adapting. All Lizards adapt at there own pace. I'd say that he should be showing you his true personality in about 1-2 months if you actually take him out and socialize him right.

Good Luck!

Ah thanks, I was worried a bit about him, but yeah he started eating the day we got him, he even ate right out of my hand the night we brought him home. I think space has a lot to do with it also, we have him in a 30 Long right now while I finish up making his own enclosure, I feel that once in its much bigger space he will open up some as well. As far as socializing goes, what should we be doing? I take him out about 30 minutes a day and hold him and let him sit on me, and we hand feed him treats. Anything else we should be doing?

well when i had my bearded dragon i would just let him sit on my head while i watched tv and did homework for a few hours at night. He also liked to hide in my bed under the blankets along with my tegu, hell i even took mine to the movies on dates sometimes. There are a lot of ways to spend time with your little guy just be creative and make sure he has access to water cause they do dehydrate when spending the day with you. Since he's actually new to your house id say spend at least 6 hours with him a week. If he seems stressed at any time decrease the amount of time you hold him and leave him alone for a couple hours, let him get adjusted to the amount of handling. Lucky for you bearded dragons dont get too big unlike my tegu, she got too big to sneak into the movies now, she misses it so much.

He is doing much better now. He has a much larger tank that has been set up too look natural, and he eats much better now and runs o his bowl like a little dog whenever I put new food in it LOL
