Ok, so me and my old man where out the front today doing some yard work. ( We live on a 8 acre property )

I was whipper snipping a section that the mower could'nt get to. Out of nowhere a baby Bearded Dragon popped up and by the looks of it, I accidently nicked one of his toes so I put him in a spare tank I had lying around with some grass ( the same stuff I found him in ) and a water bowl, and his in my room where I have my reverse cylce airconditioning always at around 28 degrees celcius unless its a hot day.

I was wondering, what should I feed him because I was just going to get some moths from out the front till I can go to LPS and buy some crickets for him.

His only about 5" long his tail is grey with brown stripes then along his body is a mix underneath is grey then around his eyes is brown.

Anyone ID him for me? Just gonna keep him for a week or so till I can drop him off at the WIRES lady ( she's currently on holiday, first one in 15 years )

Grass out, paper towels in. Keep him, no pet shops or untrustworthy sources of pet keepers. Crickets should still be the main bulk of diet at this point, apart from that, small amounts of dark leafy greens, such as collards, mustards and dandelion greens can be given. Squashes and some carrot can be provided. Cut ALL the plant matter into pieces smaller than that of the SPACE BETWEEN THE BEARDIES HEAD. Same goes for insect prey, don't cut, but select a suitable size.

Lastly, heat and UV rays are important. Reptisun 10.0 recommended at a distance of no more than 12 inches, I know the box says 20, but stick to 12 or less. Heat..basking spot should be at 110F if I'm not wrong...

I think Americans call them Brush Cutters? not sure its Aussie Slang lol. But yeh its the device you use to cut down the grass where the mower cant get to and crap.

Also, no I dont have any pictures cause I dont have a Camera.

Also, Snakefin, thanks for the info, I was thinking about a heat mat for him? I'm abit strapped for cash at the moment.

But yeh, it was a interesting day, we had to kill about 15 brown snakes ( I know its bad, but I have 2 daughters aged 2 and 3 who love to roam the property. )

Also had to move like 3 Red Belly Black snakes down to the river lol ( Only reason we dont kill these bad boys is because they eat the brown snakes and when a human goes near them they normally move away but again my 2 daughters would chase them thinking its a game -.- )

I call them weed whackers, which sounds pretty wierd too now that I think about it. Good luck with the little guy, I hope he recovers.

same, thats cool and sad. gl with him.

To be honest, loss of digits in captivity is pretty common for bearded dragons. They should not impair the dragon at all, for a really minor loss. But we don't know the severity of the cut, so I suppose like Sylvias said, pictures.
