bearded dragons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feed mine romaine, collard greens, mixed veggies actually, an dandlions( not the ones picked outside)

what about fruits? can i feed them strawberries and oranges? I have been feeding mine mustard greens, carrots, collard greens, broccolli, and raspberries. Should I add something else to his diet?

Does it matter what type of berries that I feed them? Can I feed him some oranges and apples? The reason I am asking is because this is my first beardie and I want to make sure that I do not kill him.

I want a beardie too.... matter of fact i want 2!! They're soooo cooool loooking!!

I'd nix the broccoli save as a treat, since it causes gas.

Mine loved strawberries, cantaloupe, liked honeydew, but not fans of citrus fruit like oranges or tomato.

I'd nix the fruit to no more than twice a week. Too much may create a cal phos imbalance, and has too much sugar.

*greens-
collard, kale, turnip, mustard, romain, bok choi(i think its spelled that way), rose petals(not from public places, if possible grow your own.), dandelions(same as roses), there are a few others but I cant think right now

*fruits-
Strawberries, rasberries, blueberries, banana, ground up apple chunks, most fruit flavored babyfood(dont rely on this as a staple diet only use as a treat, it can cause loose stools and ultimatley dehydration. Its also a good thing to use when treating your dragons or bulking them up for the breeding season before cooloff.)I have noticed that some dragons will eat a little of citrus fruits such as oranges, mango, etc etc. But it really depends on the individual animal.

*insects
*My favorite part of a beardies diet, and should be its staple diet aside from greens and fruits.
Any cockroaches, crickets, superworms, grubs, grasshoppers, praying mantids, silkworms, superworm beetles, and basically any other farm raised insect that moves.

*All bearded dragons should be fed prey items according to the width of their head to ensure the animal wont swallow something too big and paralyze itself.
**Also supplementing with Calcium and vitamins shoudl be a daily routine for the beardie keeper.
