Add a piece of driftwood for a climbing structure, right in the middle. Wait......how'd he get up there?

ya sand is not the best substrate, repti carpet and well textured tile is best. First, Bearded dragons aremessy eaters and often eat sand or other loose substrate with the food, second it is expensive, and third it can smell. Repti carpet can be washed(on cold so it does not shrink), so it lasts longer ad it is cheaper, and tile is easier to clean. eating sand can cause impaction and constipation and can and has killed these lizards before that is why i switched, other than that it looks grat.....Drew

i would put a big rock or drift wood so he can get up towards that heat bulb. thats why he is up there, for the warmth. i think sand is fine. any kind of substrate you use has caused some kind of impaction at some point for some person.......if you ware worried about sand, feed your bearded veggies on a plate and take him out and put him in a tubberware container when you feed crix.

i know im not gonna persuade everyone with sand to switch off, but that would be ideal. Veggies on a plate and feeding crix in a seperate container is a good idea, im not gonna tell someone what to do or flame cause that is something i dont like, its your choice, just without sand there is no room for error.
