Beardie and cage update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wasnt trying to flame you dude, its all good........ just telling him my opinion. if your beardie is eating sand its having probs. i think beardies that eat that have a calcium deficency. a little sand isnt a big deal, its the mouthfuls. same thing with the calcium sand, a little wont hurt but if it starts eating mouthfuls then something is wrong. ive heard about impaction probs from just about every kind of substrate. the safest would be your tile, but i would imagine if you had a large tank with a lot of ground area he would have a slippery time running around.... i myself would do sand, or cypress mulch. but thats just me and what i have had success with and no probs. others swear by newspaper...others aspen...its just a matter of preference :)

remove that dumb cage mesh over the bulb, you dont need it. it will do more harm than good.

if he somehow clings to the bottom of that square he's gonin to burn himself on the wire.

metal conducts heat and as close as that metal mesh is to the bulb its going to get very hot.

he's not going to jump for the bulb. so no need to worry. theres plenty of clearance between his basking spot and the bulb.

Add a piece of driftwood for a climbing structure, right in the middle. Wait......how'd he get up there?
He jumps, LOL, were going to get him a nice piece of wood tommrrow when we go out for some crickets.

i would put a big rock or drift wood so he can get up towards that heat bulb. thats why he is up there, for the warmth. i think sand is fine. any kind of substrate you use has caused some kind of impaction at some point for some person.......if you ware worried about sand, feed your bearded veggies on a plate and take him out and put him in a tubberware container when you feed crix.
Hes fine eating the way he is

Thanks the covers there as my python was in the cage before, and we didn't bother to take it off.
