Beardies or Blue Tongues?

a blue tongue skink looks like a mini tegu or monitor and very nice to have and intereactive. A beardie is cool to chill on your shoulder and can get a breeding pair to chill together. I say search some vids on youtube about each and choose what you think is best. Hope this helps.

I apologize for going ape over the whole sand= impaction thing in my earlier post, all i will say is to make decisions based on facts, not misconceptions. Choose what substrate you like and feel is safe for your animals.

As for weather to get a beardie or blue tongue? both make great pets, again its just down to preference, there are also dwarf beardies and pink tongues if you can get them over there.

It is, they are quite common in these parts and i often see them rummaging through the leaf litter at the back of my yard, i also sadly see a few that have been attacked by my neighbors cat. I don't see many beardies around these days but i see several varieties of skinks, 3-4 types of geckos and even water dragons with are beautiful animals, last time i saw one in my back yard i took pics of it. I would post them up but we don't have a feild herping section on the forums.

Blue tongues generally live longer then beardies and are live bearers, if that will aid in your choice.

dude dont worry about it, its not that your talking about it, its just that a thread on choosing an animal can turn into a mess real fast because of that being such a debatable topic. I posted up one of the many old threads on that topic. Its just easier to keep each members opinions and voice on the matter in one thread. i would go with the beardies every single time... they are amazingly social easy to handle and pretty cool to watch..they also come in some pretty cool morphs if thats your thing...

i had my two in a 125 that i built a custom rock structure for, but i think i am going to build an entire unit for them..should be fun...
