How about a Synodontis multipunctatus, good looking and pretty peacefuls cat that gets to 10-11" long. for a mid-water catwith an unusual appearance you could get a Cetopsis coecutiens which gets about the same size.

Actually Multipunctatus only get 6"-7", but a still a great cat.

bolt cats get a little big but could work and are a great catfish

giant bumblebees are rare in some places and common in others just depends there rare where i live but if you wan't a more active catfish go with a larger pimelodus species giant bumblebees can be a little lazy

whale catfish they might not work while not to aggressive they have a nasty habit mostly done on larg catfish in deep rivers where its from they will latch onto and bite chunks out of fish for food they can't be trusted with expensive or fish you care about they also hate bright tanks they need low light tanks with little cover they are a mid water catfish that will roam its tank when in low light tanks or at night they also will eat any fish that can fit or be bitten up to fit in there mouths

type in aguarunichthys torosus for pics and info on bolt catfish
