That's what I call using your space to the max lolI have a fish room in my 3 bedroom house. It was described as an office

I always do that kind of stuff and put the fish in right away.....I call it "Super-cycle" or a "Speed-cycle". I never had any issues with it. Make sure you use some old tank water tooQuick question of opinion because I could see how this can theoretically work but want to get y'all's thoughts. Take the sponge filter (rated 125 gallons) from one of my already running 125 gallons (it also has 2 AC 110s running) and put it in the 75 and replace the sponge filter in the 125.
A) Would it more or less "instantly" cycle the 75?
B) Would it drastically harm the current 125?
that's the idea.....it's pre-cycled water so it already processed. SOME BB lives in the water column, but I always use a portion of the old tank water anyway, 2 birds 1 stone. You can also take an old filter cartridge or media and rinse it in the new tank's water .......and feel free to siphon up some of the detritus to take with you as well. Plenty of BB there tooWhat does adding water from the old tank accomplish? Isn't all the BB going to be found in substrate and filter media?
I recently did something similar to what your asking and it worked out fine for my tank. Just monitor water parameters and if you get a little bit if ammonia do a 50% water change and dose with some prime.
