Hello. My BEC is now sick, I guess. He’s around 10”, in 36*18*18 inch tank with external filter.
His tankmate is 4 Crossocheilus reticulatus.
Diets are Hikari algae wafer, hikari growth sinking pellet and raw cucumber.

His symptoms are : for a month, he’s developing white dot... grey? All over his body. Now he stopped eating cucumber and maybe all pellets. He’s still quiet aggressive and try to attack my hand through the glass as always.

The cause might be that I introduce new group of fishes into the tank. First Neon Tetra... all dead. Then guppies which died quickly in next few days along with all my old guppies, leaving only 4 Crossocheilus reticulatus and BEC. After that, he seems to have those dots and now... he look like this :

Is it fungus? Bacteria? I change water almost every 3 days now and don’t want to risk using meds recklessly. Will external filter with UV help? Salt? Thank you very much.

Also, water parameter is near perfect. No ammonia or nitrite.
Could it be he’s malnutriention?

Can’t tell from the pics. Sounds like it’s stressed. Could be extra slimecoat production. Would add some salt and watch for now. Try the food soaked in garlic.

He's still not eating. Eyes began to sunk in and belly started swollen. I changed water frequently. No ammonia or nitrites. Might be because he lacked protein? Don't know what went wrong. He's perfectly fine for years but now... this. Dont even touch pellets or cucumber even it's right before him.

What type of pellets do you feed him? Panaques are herbivore plecos and to high protein will eventually kill them.

I always feed Hikari algae wafers. Hikari growth sinking is like 1 time a week.
Probably it’s Crosso fish? But I never seen them bothering BEC. I have no clue now.

Whats your nitrate readings? Do you got both soft and hard wood in the tank?

Have you seen the crosso bugging it or could they be too boisterous? That could stress it out.

No nitrate in that tank. I got 3 woods right now. He’s munching one if them til last month.

I might try removing Crosso but I have no other tanks available right now so they’re as good as dead if I did...

Added 4 tablespoons of salt yesterday. It’s 40 gallons tank BTW.

No nitrate? If the tank is properly cycled you should always have little nitrate. Ammonia breaks down to nitrite. Nitrite breaks down to nitrate. Nitrate is why we change water. Some nitrate you should have.
