Beef Heart?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ I'd imagine it would be.

I fed beefheart for the first time in a while (a week or so) last night--this is the first time my ABK has seen beefheart. The little guy went NUTS over it.

yeah haha mine loves it too, i can't believe this thread got dug up it's over a month old lol

Haha yeah.

Man my new bichir is growing like a damn weed. The older one (if I had to guess) I think is about the size now of the one I lost a while ago. The new guy looks maybe 1/2" behind him now & his fin is growing back nicely.

glad to hear it, is this the one the guy said was 2 years old @ like 5"?

I hear cut up pieces of Tilapia is good for bichirs...

That is what I feed my Bichirs (along with Massivore and Krill) Bichirs main diet consists of Tilapia sp. so feeding them it is a natural diet...Feeding too much beef heart can cause excess fats to build up so I would say to keep it as a once in a while treat and not a daily or weekly meal....

Also Petsmart sells beefheart but its San Fransisco Bay and I do my best to steer clear of them

Nah, that hasn't happened yet, if it does it'll probably be a little while longer.

This is the one I picked up from petsmart the day after my last one died, he was missing most all of his left pectoral fin....now its about halfway grown back & he's getting big quick (at least relative to how slow my other current poly grew at that size-range)

Actually 2 of the idiots swam up my filter intake and the other got moved to my 75 when i got it, i got 9 more just to watch and so far my oscar has only eaten one :) hahaha

My bichirs are doing great however, they've grown from 3" to about 6" in a month and a half

lol. Excellent. ^_^ They really do make for decent "snackable dithers" - at least for a while... I've now had 3 spawns with 0 danio casualties on the convict end.

Glad to hear they're working out.
