i found a store that sells frozen beef heart but its made for dogs and cats. Is that safe to feed my fishies?

is it heart of cow?..,pig??..or what? but the best heart to feed is the chicken heart.... my senegal feeds on chicken heart.., he is now 4 months.,he is only 3'' last year., and now., he is 13''.... i recomend chicken heart.., try it..

Beefheart is fine for fish, but can be hard for them to digest. A mixture of beefheart and other ingredients is best.

the reason that beefheart is popular, is that you want to trim out all of the fat, veins and sinew - leaving only protein. There's two reasons for this, one is that the fat fouls the water quickly, and the other is that type of animal fat isn't good for fish. It's pretty tough to trim a chicken heart just because of the size. I've read quite a few places that all heart meat (once trimmed) is considered pretty much equal in protein value.

Unless you have a fish big enough to feed chunks of heart meat, most people end up using a food processor to grind it up. This can get pretty messy at feeding time leaving a lot of small uneaten particles. Heart meat is popular with discus keepers, but remember, most of them use bare bottom tanks and are doing very frequent water changes.

Hopefully, the frozen beefheart that you're thinking of using is already trimmed.

well its like already cut up and stuff... i wont feed it as their staple diet... just occasionally, and just small pieces
i hand feed it with tongs so it doesnt really leave a lot of gunk everywhere...
i tried to feed a small piece to my polys today n they loved it
so i think ill just give them a small piece once a week or 2 just so they get extra protein. their staple diet consists of tubifex, bloodworms and frozen minnows...

my african brown knife also enjoyed the beef heart...
well atleast i think its beef... it just says heart on the package...
