Beefheart

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed my fish beefheart probly 1 time a week on a regular basis but in the past i have fed it daily to get the fast growth but i have never seen the fish respond to it that way i just use it now to break up the regular feeding of hikari gold and nightcrawlers.

While we're on the subject, any opinions on that frozen cichlid delight stuff?

I bought one of those frozen varity packs and it came with this, the fish seem to like it but it makes quite a mess. Could it possibly foul my water?

Gotcha, I just thought some might be familiar off hand, seems like all my LFS carry it, I know it contains beefheart....

I'll check it out and get back to you, thanks.

Well most uneaten foods would eventually foul up the tank, so I persoanlly try to remove anything that has not been eaten. I try to cut up enough for all to eat but drop them in the tank a little at a time so I know when they stop taking the food I stop and I would only have to remove maybe 3-4 pieces of uneaten foods.

beef heart is great. I fed it to my oscars a lot and they loved it and it didnt hurt them at all. Nowadays I feed my fish deer heart. Its very rich and they like it a lot. I get the hearts from my grandpa. They are whole and i cut them up into chunks. I guess an heart will work.

umm i don't use it anymore, period. no cichlids out there will EVER tackle a cow and eat it's heart. :screwy:

of course you'll see cichlids popping open a jar and chowing on pellets daily:D

Beefheart would be a good addition to any fish diet of a variety of foods, but would not be very good as the only item on the menu

beefheart is great... my discus thrive off it...so do all my other fish(boesmani rainbows, loaches, corydoras kribensis etc.)

one of my buddies has a huge stock tank (pond for watering cattle) on his farm. well anyways every time they kill something out there they throw the stuff that they wont eat into the pond. including beef heart deer heart hog heart buffalo heart and all the other organs. well anyway they have pulled some of the biggest fish that i have ever seen from that sucker.

so i reccomend heart for food

nah i really don't care about other ppls success with it. i've never had any great things happen from it, so screw it. if you do use it, deffinatly don't use regularly. haha and the response to opening the pellet container is funny as heck. do as you wish, but i personally don't use it anymore period. for my own reasons i guess. :D
