Best thing to do is switch to blue LED lights. You'll have the same dark affect, but minus the trauma for your fish.

I used to have blue LED with my rhom, he went crazy when the blue LED is on. probably just so excited that the bright white LED is finally off.

I just put blue led's on my tank, the piranhas were scared at first but now they love it.... go with the led's

I use actinic lights from zoomed and it looks exactly the same. They're for marine tanks mostly. My fish seems to dig it. It's supposed to simulate the water that penetrates to the part of the ocean where fish live.

I meant to say it simulates the LIGHT that penetrates to the part of the ocean where fish live.

They also make the plastic tubes to put over your bulb to make them look like a "black light" they make diferent colors as well.. I used it for my JDs before.
