I mean I've seen others..like 3-4 kinds that go in the $20+ and only if you buy the pair.
Maybe it's just the LFS.

If your thinking about a 55' why not go with a 75. It's the same tank only deeper and thicker glass. I like P45's sugestion. A bunch of busy mbuna with one big central american ass kicker to keep them in line.

i might get a 55g or a 29g i was mainly thinking about getting dwarf cichlids but i dont know which ones to get

i kown nothing about dwarf ch.
but fire mouths can fit in a 29 or 55 for life
males get around 5-6" at most ime

how big is your tank? if its really just 1 gallon like you said, then it isnt suitable for any dwarf cichlids.

I'm all about Hap. Compressisepts (sp?) They're really different looking and go suprizingly well in my tanks. I have a community tank full of Africans (raised together from the time that they were idy bitty) and a tank with arrowana, 2 knife fish, 2 channel cats, and 2 compressisepts, don't ask me how that one works but its been going great for over a year!
