Beginner ray?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's the dimensions of my friends turtle pond and I thought it will be good for rays so they can swim around loads lol sorry

it would be very good dimensions, but it just not really realistic for somebody starting out with rays.

If he wants to build a 6x6x2 tank, why are you trying to talk him out of it? Most people start out with tanks far too small, this guy is talking about a sensible size - and he has a friend with that size running already.

boosh, if you're up for doing a 6x6x2, I say get stuck in. You still need to do some serious research on rays but at least a 6x6x2 is a good size to start with.

Leos are very hard but have a big price tag.
Around 1k each.

Male motoros stay smaller I have a 4.5 year old that is still 11" or so. Some may get a bit larger tho.

Male stingrays have 2 claspers at the base of there tail. You can see the claspers in this picture on the ray on the right side, just below his tail.

They can be hard to see on immature rays.

I am sort of worried as some people will not put the time and money on there rays. U have to do frequent water changes for me i say ATLEAST 50-70 percent once every 2 weeks. But best if 50 percent every week. And they eat a pretty big amount of food. Before you buy make sure u c the ray eat and if shipped then ask for a video. Captive bred is best as most rays are wild caught. Gender u have etc etc do some research as most people hate to study.
