Hey everyone, just want some advice on which wolf fishes are good for beginners? Personally i would enjoy a fish that is full of personality, and preferably would grow large.

Info on the size of the tank you have would be helpful in helping you. Smaller set ups under 100 gal are more ideal for the "Red" wolve species. The larger species obviously need larger tanks.

Two be honest none of them are difficult to keep aside from the physical size requirements of the larger species.

What tank size do you have, footprint rather than water volume?

Do you want to keep anything with it?

There is a very small percentage of people that are equipped to handle an Amaira. If you looking for an active fish with a lot of personality.....I would not get a wolf.

Yeah cause a sleeper gobie is basicly the same thing just not as aggressive but all they do is "Sleep" just as wolves do or sit in one spot all day.

I did own an Sp. Peru (Hi-fin Rainbow) that sat in one spot all day but he was an enigma in many ways - his favorite chew toy was leaves. My Hopli Mala is very active for a wolf but nowhere near as active as open water predators. One thing they all have in common is that they are escape artists. I've got 4 bricks on the lid holding him in, so make sure you have a secure lid with openings too small for them to get thru. I lost my 1st Mala to forcing his way out - the cats gott'em. I also dropped the wattage of his light to 15 which seems to have brought him more into open water than just hanging along the bottom.
