i did a quick check on your filter and you did a good job on that. I always find its better to "over do" filtration for you tanks that way you know it can handle the loads! welcome to the addiction :devil:

hehe actually i got the fake rocks gravel and everything in there from my friend for about 45 bucks his mom was actually glad i took it cuz it was jus sittin there
and i kno i live in hawaii and stuff and could find some interesting rocks lyin around the beach but didnt really get the chance to yet too busy with class..midterms comin up and hey i could always upgrade to real later hehe
and about the filter i was thinkin about gettin either a canister filter (getting prepared for a 90g upgrade) or an AC 70..good idea?

One thing though, that is an african cichlid you have in there - not good to mix with a lot of fish, best to stick with other africans & such when the time comes to add...& you'll be wnting a bigger tank as they grow, some can get rather large/territorial

maybe puttin in a peacock and a zebra or two i dont wanna overstock cuz i dont really kno how long til i can upgrade due to us living in the 4th floor of our 4 story walk-up apartments
 
and hey i have had my electric yellow for 3 days now but it still wont eat
im feeding him some hikari's cichild gold baby pellets but he wont touch it
any suggestions on wat other feed to try cuz im goin out in a few hours to the pet store
 
Buy a water test kit so you can test your water. Or bring a sample to your LFS and have them test it. Since you're still cycling your tank, you have to watch your ammonia levels and nitrite levels closely so your fish won't die. As for your fish you might want to try some live black worms or frozen blood worms.
 
yeah i was gonna bring a sample of my water in after a week
the guys that work there are pretty kool and said they would do it for free
for my first 2 tests

i get my rocks from down by the river for free...ive seen those rocks at walmart for like 20 bucks lol. but they look nice
 
if you want to be quick and easy just buy some test strips . just dip them in and compare to the chart
 
i tried to feed my electric yellow some freeze dried blood worms today and it still wont eat it jus watches it float anyone else has any suggestions on wat i could feed it..im kinda scared it may starve itself on me
 
Ok, NO feeder guppies unless they are quarantined for at least a week. The fish will not starve to death, eventually he will be hungry and readily take the frozen blood worms. They can literally go up to 2 weeks without eating.
Just give him some time to get adjusted to the tank.

Also, if you want accurate test results get a Master Test Kit, not the strips, they are not very accurate.
