The main ones to be concerned with is Ammonia and nitrites this is the waste created by your fish along with uneaten food. You need to have a reading of zero on both.

Once your beneficial bacteria start to grow, they will comsume the ammonia and nitrites and produce nitrates. You will want to keep your nitrate readings under 40ppm. To reduce the nitrates you will have to do water changes. For your tank you'll be doing 1 25% change per week, once you get more fish you may have to change more water.

I would wait about 3 weeks while running both filters, After that you can add another fish.

ok kool i jus did a 5 gallon water change
and according to the results the lfs gave me
i am already down to zero on both
so with my electric yellow wat are some kool africans i could add
i want some vibrant colors in there

ialways liked julis and theres some kind/s that is/are blur with varying black stripes and spots, they look prettty cool. also i don't know waht they are called or anything about them but the black ones with the big red spot are cool, if they'll tolerate you other fish.

I'm not familer with the types of africans so I'll pass on any advice here.

DO NOT ADD TOO MANY FISH TO QUICK, If your tank is cycled, then it is for just the one fish you have. Slowly add fish I would do one per week, this way the beneficial bacteria can grow to support the additional fish. If you add too many at once, all the new fish will produce to much waste for your the current amount of bacteria you have.

Good luck and keep use posted with pics:thumbsup:
