I made some progress today; found some nice glass at the Home store, a Habitat for Humanities offshoot. The glass is 36" in diameter; the opening is 32". The front windows will be approx. 36" x 40", with a nice size brace in the middle...

that looks awsome my dogs sleep on the cold concrete in my garage too.

More progress; made the cutouts last night. I put the primer coat on, but I am going to wait until it's all screwed together before putting the topcoats on. My carport looks like a yardsale gone bad!!:nilly: :nilly:

Looks good. Are you planning on doubling up the thickness on the large walls, or running bracing or something? I think you'll wind up with some significant bowing with just one sheet per wall.

I do have some bracing ideas; The 1st drawing is the front view with a 2x4 running vertical between the windows. Another 2x4 will mirror it on the back wall. A 1x6 will join them together, with 1x4' s at 2' and 6' as seen in the second drawing. I think I will run a 1x4 lengthwise and screw the braces together where they intersect.

Well I put the 3rd topcoat this a.m. and picked up my last piece of glass for the front windows. I still have to wait a couple more hours for it to dry before I silicone the glass. After waiting for the silicone to cure I can screw her all together, silicone my corners, and concentrate on the bracing...pics will follow:popcorn:

O.K., the glass is siliconed in place; after it's cured I'll try to shoot some more into the gaps seen in the last two pics. I've already used 3 tubes of silicone...:headbang2 :headbang2

Nice, how did you cut the glass?

The glass was found at this place called the Home Store, which is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity. It's like a flea market with nothing but building supplies that have been donated by whomever; I have found pvc ball valves (1 1/2", 2") for $4-5. Everything is a minute fraction of what it cost new. So if you're a die hard scrounger like me, it's a great place. All of the glass were originally table tops, cost all together maybe $120, plus another $15 for the cuts.:D :D
