I recently purchased a gold nugget pleco and I have noticed an odd behaviour that I have never noticed any of my previous plecos do. He kind of shimmies his pectoral fins into the sand then pumps his tail hard and drags the pectoral fins through the sand.
Is he trying to search for food? Or is this something else?

I had L026's that do that exact thing. I thought for sure something was wrong, but they are just fine and still do it today. I do think it is a way of searching for food in my opinion.
