So I added 6 convicts over a month ago to try and clean up some of the mess my fahaka puffer leaves behind when he eats. I got them at not even an inch and basically expected the worse but hoped for the best. Well not only have the convicts survived but two have paired off and are protecting the inside of a rustic plane I have in the tank (eggs/babies?). Even more unexpected still is the fact that it seems the Fahaka is being slightly bullied by the female, he tends to lean away when she threatens him and she will actually nip at his body (which does absolutely no damage but he hasn't killed her yet so it must not bug him too much.)

I see that you are a Leafs fan, you in Toronto?
If so, where did you get your fahaka?

it doesn't make sense why doesn't he just eat them if they bug him?

My fahaka is either a wimp or a bully depending on the fish he lives with. He was a wimp when it came to the convicts so they went bye bye. I woudn't have minded if he had eaten them, and he did get a good chunk of tail fin on one of them. Eventually though they had him and the loaches terrified and stuck in a corner. I felt bad for all the fish involved so the convicts went to a lfs.
