Beneficial Bacteria Under A Microscope!

That's an awesome video. I always wondered what they look like. Are the solid things that arent moving some algae or something?

That was a great thing to share the BB vid :). +1 to wondering how they looked.

Hey guys just a short video i made when i brought some BB to my high school and put it under a microscope, its interesting to think such small organisms are a major part of keeping a healthy tank!

Nice video. Don't want to burst your bubble, but the moving organism is not bacteria. It is a protozoa. Why not ask your teacher for help in identification. Bacteria are difficult to see unless you have a high powered microscope.

Like Joe stated, it is a protozoa. I wasn't sure myself, but I found other vids on youtube of the same organism, being called protozoa. Cool to see, regardless. I wasn't able to find any vids of BB.

Ha ya like the last two are saying thats not bacteria. It is a protozoa from the group Ciliphora if I am not mistaken. You can see the little oar like structures moving rather rapidly on the side; those are cilia which aid in movement and this is what classifies protozoa hence CILIAphora. Pretty interesting video although I have been looking at these for the past few weeks haha.

I am a micro major in the diversity of protozoa unit ;)
