Benefits of sand vs. gravel?

The only place i seen Black sand is at petsmart. But, i will never pay $25.99 for a 20lbs bag of sand. If you like you can pick it up there. I like pool filter sand, Because I'm cheap.
If you want to find an INSANE choice of sands go to a pool manufacturing company.
The guys who actually create the pools. I went to one and they literally had a warehouse full of over a hundred different types of sand/gravel/beads.
From all over the world. From different colored all glass beads to sand shuvled right off of beaches overseas.
They even had all of the colors and sizes of 3M...It was awesome. I just went into the warehouse with a bunch of buckets and went shopping.
You should definitely look into it. Most places don't mind as long as you aren't there to get 10 lbs worth. Cheap too. Wholesale.
Here's what I ended up getting. 300 lbs of Chilean black.
I was going to go with 3M, but when I saw this I changed my mind immediately. It's all natural. Rounded off and mixed by nature herself.
It has a nice deep black.
Never in a million years would I have imagined myself getting so excited about
finding a good sand distributor......This hobby does weird things to people.....

ever since iv had sand my water stinks i have a cascade 300 and a whisper 30-60 it stays foggy because that sand... id much rather have gravel

paul, a lfs was goin out of business and he had 100lbs of it that i snatched for a hell of a deal
