1200-1500 gph is good. I've heard that you want to aim for a turnover rate of 9x per hr but I find that a bit much. 9x/hr has the fish constantly struggling against the current in my tank. It's better to reduce bypass in you bio tower to increase the water's exposure time to the Beneficial Bacteria IMO.
