Thanks guys, Yah my nitrates are running between 10-20 dripping 2gph, The old tank was running 40 after a 50% water change twice a week . I can say with 99% certainty that Nitrates have a big effect on growth and color. Even at levels that are often thought of as "acceptable".

I will do another update in about a month

The water plays a big part, the more water you change your bass will thank you. But another big factor is probably that he has never seen live food, he went directly from frozen bloodworms to Hikari pellets at a very small size. I find it really easy to pack size on bass when they will pound pellet food.
