imo 25'x5' for sure with that sock and most other fish was well. i think if u are going have a fish that needs it deeper, front to back, than 5' then the tank should be a minimum of 25' length to see the fish in all its !!!GLORY!!!, but that's just me

Is there a reason why you have limited the height of the tank to 30" and not gone to 36" or 48"? Regardless this is going to be another amazing build!

I think the 5'x25'x30" would be the one I'd do, just because I think the foot print is really good and simulates a river for the "river fish" you are doing.

Once I get into the new place I can see what kind of room I have to work with. Trying to keep the overhead clear so I have room to crawl above the tank and change bulbs and stuff like that without being in the tank to do it.

Which is something my current 1500 doesn't have.

Would you consider building a 3000 gallon tank?

I have a question I have this idea of building a 1000 or 2000 gallon cinder block cement and arylic viewing window coldwater fish tank in this 1960's house basement I might be looking at. And wounder how hard is constroling humuidy in your house's basement with the warm water tank?

I usually vent the air out the window. On the 1500 the ventilation (Window fan blow air out) is in the sump room. In the new tank the fan will be above the tank and will vent outside as well.

Just went through the house again with the home insepctor. I am pretty excited, Looks like I might be able to do something like 6'x30' :)

Awesome.

Go as tall as possible. I know the glass thickness will have to go up and that gets pricey, obviously, but just imagine how ridiculous it'd be if it was 42-48" deep...

I wonder... when you get to a tank of that magnitude... is it cheaper to just heat the room? (And since heat rises, would that pretty much just heat the rest of the house? In the winter that'd be nice... not so much in the summer though.)

I am supper excited for you and this build your 1500 was the first build I encountered and really inspired me! I was thinking of doing a 14x6x6 and hearing that you are planning a 25'x6' is awsome goodluck

With that size of tank you would be better off using some type of under floor heater like they use for under your tiles.
