I always wanted to have a black nasty, if I had a spare 75g I would probably try that.

looking at pics of the haitensis is what made me originally consider the wet pet idea, but I don't know anything about em. Are they aggressive? Are they as outgoing as oscars, citrenellus, etc.?

Haits are prone to bloat you have to feed a high veg diet when young and not stress them Midas is a sure bet though

aren't there different color morphs for midas? barred, calico, etc? is midas or labiatus better?

A Jaguar cichlid they're awesome!

I would have to disagree with a JD, I had a big one and he hides all damn day until it was feeding time.

GT look nice in a 75

Both can get nice and beefy... so to speak...lol

I have a big pair of haitiensis in a 75g. I need to divide them sometimes but most of the time they get along well. They're sociable fish but certainly not glass bangers (if that's what you want).

I've found istlanum to be pretty shy/reclusive fish. Certainly not "petlike" in any way... although certainly a gorgeous fish.

My votes for a pair of severum or Uaru... not that it's my tank :)

I'll vote Uaru as well. Mine is by far the most social fish I have. Plus you could also keep some other smaller friends (cleanup crew) in there with them without a problem.

At first I was thinking a 75 might not be enough for an Uaru but they're not super active fish either so now that I think of it it'd be fine.

Really though, there are lots of social fish that would work just fine on their own, so get whatever you think looks the coolest. That's personal preference, not something any of us can give advice on.
