Lace rock...

BTW- I have been driving since my last post except for the last 2 hours in a local tavern....

It was a Hell of a wake...!

Back to the fish...

Lace rock... I have looked at it so many times.... and have come very close to purchasing it more than once...

I just like the way the fish claim an area of the TXHR... then when they get to big for it ... (just like us BTW!!!!!), they move on to a larger hole/ crevis, area... etc... however, this usually envolves kicking out the current occupant...! Ha...!

Editorial: After coming back to the hobby in 2005 from Saly in the late 1980s... and committing to AF cichlids... I am sold on the combo of TXHR, no gravel, chucks of tufa to fill in the open bottom areas, and trying to create as many spots to hide for the fish as possible, over filtrate and use h2o african cichlid salt. Oh and of course... go "big tank" if at all possible.. My biggest regret will always be this.... I should have put a 150 AG at my moms instead of the 110G.... 4 ' tanks are to short and just add to the aggression level when the fish get larger... IMHO....

Thank you to those who are of the same opinion on the algae... it's very cool...!

FYI-I am in the process of getting some pictures taken and then up on here... still am trying to get the right bulb combo to grow the algae...

Best to all,

MM

NO...!!!!!!!

IMO... WAIT...

The brown will turn to green.... then the fish will pick at it and when they start to reproduce it will provide a steady fod source for them too...!

I have a lot of TXHR and when it greens up it loks amazing.... Check out my post on growing algae...

I am pressed for time, as I have to drive an hour to atend a colleagues wake tonight but if I can find them quickly I will post the links...

John

^yup  ...I used to clean only the front glass, the rest was growing healthy algae for the fish.

I personally bought 2 bristlenose and the brown algae was gone the next day..I was completely amazed but one of the problems i have is that my mbuna never seem to eat any algae

Believe it or not, in the past couple of days the brown algae has started turning green. I have seen THR with green algae on it. I can live with that.
